Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs by the Cancer Society. During the event, teams of people gather and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times. The Relay offers something for everyone, from the newly diagnosed, to caregivers and friends, to long-term survivors. It also represents the hope that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, that those who face cancer will be supported, and that one day cancer will be eliminated.
“Hair for Hero’s” takes place every May at the Halifax Shopping Centre – Lower Level, Centre Court. This high energy, family orientated head shaving event raises funds to support the Daniel McLellan Memorial Fund. This event honors true “Hero’s” – the remarkable people battling cancer, especially children.
This event also supports organizations that create and supply children with wigs due to hair loss from chemotherapy. If you would like to donate 8-10 inches of hair you can have it “chopped” at the event. For guidelines and more information on hair donation please visit
